On ODI research

The Ondo Democratic Initiatives (ODI), a research group in Ondo State, is known for pre-election research. It was the organisation that conducted the research which in its findings revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari would lose the election in Ondo State before the March 2019 general election and also predicted Governor Yahaya Bello’s successful outing in Kogi in the last election.

In a recent research, ODI carried out a survey to determine the most preferred among the teeming aspirants jostling to unseat Governor Rotimi Akeredolu in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Ondo State.

According to the head of the research team, Dr. Akinwale Ogidi, the comprehensive exercise narrowed down on the two major political parties in the state: the All Progressive Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and it found that Akure-born politician and lawyer, Eyitayo Jegede of the PDP and Owo-born politician and United States trained lawyer, Bukola Adetula of APC are the two most preferred candidates to fly the flag of their respective parties in Ondo State.

And from the report, majority of Ondo State indigenes are no longer desirous of a conventional politician to govern the state, as they their search for real development and better quality of life. Going by the findings of the survey across the 18 local government areas, the people of Ondo State are tired and done with stereotypical politicians who have mastered the art of vain promises during electioneering campaign. The two legal practitioners may be the candidates to watch as the jostle for the seat of government in the state continues.
