Man arrested for impersonating police PRO, Muyiwa Adejobi

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command apprehended an individual who impersonated ACP Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), in a fraudulent scheme.

The arrest was disclosed by the FPRO via his official X account on Friday, 22nd March, 2024.

He mentioned that the impersonator had deceived several unsuspecting victims.

Expressing a desire to confront the imposter during ongoing investigations, the statement emphasised the need to address such cases publicly.

“The young man was arrested for impersonating me and duping unsuspecting Nigerians. I wish to see him while the investigation is ongoing,” the post read. “It’s unfortunate that some people can be gullible. We’ll soon address the public on this case and others. He’ll soon be unveiled for everyone to know.”

Emmanuel was apprehended while attempting to facilitate the release of a suspect from police custody using a forged identification card.

His deception was exposed when he failed to provide convincing answers regarding his alleged position within the force.

CP Idowu Owohunwa stated that Emmanuel’s attempt to portray himself as a high-ranking police officer raised suspicions, prompting further investigation.

Subsequent inquiries revealed that Emmanuel had been engaging in such deceitful activities for some time.

Emmanuel confessed to obtaining the fake ID card from an individual named Abba, purportedly an official of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), for a fee of N2,000.
