The Erelu-Oodua of Aye Kingdom, Ondo State, Mabel Tinuade Onaneye, has commiserated with the families of the victims of the recent explosion at Abule Odo and Ado Soba towns in Amuwo Odofin area of Lagos State.
She called for the immortalisation of principal of Bethlehem High School, Reverend Sister Henrietta Alokha, who rescued all the 300 children under her care from the raging fire.
While lamenting the incident, Onaneye called for the investigation on the alleged pipeline explosion that claimed innocent lives, adding that families of the deceased should be compensated by the government.
In a statement signed and made available to Tribune Online from Texas, United States, Onaneye expressed shock over the incident and urged the state government to create measures that would guide against further occurrence.
The statement read in part: “Reverend Sister Henrietta Alokha didn’t survive the fire incident after she saved the lives of over 300 children of the school because of the impact of the explosion that was said to have been caused by the leakages along the gas pipeline in the area according to reports.”
Reacting to the outbreak of coronavirus in the country, Onaneye advised President Muhammadu Buhari to be proactive in handling the global menace, urging him to address the nation on the measures taken so far as well to douse tension.
