Five-year-old Moridiya Rauf who was attacked by a dog on Monday at Adagbada Arola area of Apete, in Ibadan, Oyo State, went through a successful surgery on Wednesday at the Main Theatre of the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.
The girl is currently at the Children’s Ward, with full cognition, and was met by the Nigerian Tribune eating rice.
The confirmation of the girl’s successful surgery is contrary to reports that milled round, even before and on the day of the operation, that she had died.
The parents and some close relatives of the girl were seen in and outside the ward, taking care of her or getting things she needed.
In an interview with the younger sister of the girl’s father, who did not disclose her name, she said happily: “The surgery was carried out on Wednesday and it was successful. Our daughter survived it. She’s the one you saw eating.”
She stated that though the surgery took long hours, “we thank God that He made everything go well.
“She (Moridiya) is very okay. When she came out of the theatre, we spoke to her and her responses were normal. She recognised her father, mother, and other family members.
“Before she went for the surgery, she was told that I would bring something for her from home, and immediately she was wheeled out of the theatre and saw me, she asked if I had brought that particular thing.
“It’s those who spread such false story that know whoever died, but definitely not our own daughter, Moridiya.”
