The Arewa youths, under the aegis of the Arewa Youths Ambassadors (AYA), have distanced themselves from the planned protest against the federal government over harsh economic policies introduced by the present administration of President Bola Tinubu.
It also said that at no time did it approve some of its members to speak on behalf of the group.
The Public Relations Officer of the AYA, Mallam Namadi Duniya, stated this in Kaduna while speaking to newsmen about the recent development.
According to him, the group had rejigged its leadership by replacing the former National Coordinator for taking a unilateral decision in support of the protest without consulting with other officials
Duniya urged the youths to refrain from being used to destabilise the country by people who do not wish the country well; he maintained that “we are not part of the planned protest.
He called on security operatives to closely monitor and investigate any individual or group with ulterior motives on the issue, attributing it to a lack of patriotism.
“While we called on our members to shun this protest, we are calling on the Police Department, DSS and other security agencies to make sure law and order are maintained and hold those responsible for any breach in public peace or chaos capable of sabotaging economic activities in the country.
