Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has named Auwal Mohammed Jatau, currently representing Zaki Federal Constituency of Bauchi State in the House of Representatives as the running mate ahead of the 2023 governorship election in the state.
Auwal Mohammed Jatau, a onetime Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly was the gubernatorial candidate of the PDP in the 2015 General elections losing to the former Governor, Mohammed Abubakar Abdullahi of the APC.
The choice of running mate was disclosed on Sunday by the Governor while speaking with PDP stakeholders in the state – a development that has confirmed that the Governor will not be running for a second term with his present Deputy, Sen Baba Tela.
Mohammed Auwal Jatau while interacting with Journalists in Bauchi, expressed his profound gratitude to the Governor for finding him worthy to be his running mate in the forthcoming election.
He promised to reciprocate the gesture by being a loyal and supportive running mate for the success of the PDP-led administration at the polls as well as in the implementation of people-oriented projects and programmes ongoing.
Auwal Jatau said that “I want to use this medium to express my profound appreciation to His Excellency, the incumbent Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for finding me worthy to be his running mate in the 2023 governorship election in Bauchi State”.
According to him, “This is a great honour to me and I want to assure the Governor that I will justify the confidence reposed in me.
“No Government in the history of Bauchi State has performed well like what the Kauran Bauchi is doing to us now. All of us are surprised with the performances of our Governor in the delivery of dividends of democracy to the entire people of the state and we must appreciate His Excellency for making us proud”.
He stressed that “Our 2023 campaign would be based on what we have achieved so far and things that we can do in our second term, and In sha Allah, the achievements recorded by the Governor would be the key to our collective victory in the outcome of the governorship election.”
Auwal Jatau assured the people of the state that the performance of Governor Bala Mohammed in his second term would be better than that of his first tenure in the area of execution of projects.
He, therefore, urged the people to rally around the administration for better service delivery stressing that Bauchi State will remain a stronghold of the PDP.
