AN Upper Area Court, sitting in Kaswan Nama, Jos, on Friday sentenced a 26-year-old trader, Moses Fwol, to two years imprisonment for robbing a man of his wallet and cell phone.
The judge, Lawal Suleiman, however, gave the convict N 100, 000 option of fine.
Suleiman also ordered him to pay N25, 000 compensation to the complainant.
The judge said the judgment would serve as a deterrent to those who would want to indulge in such activities.

Fwol was arraigned on charges bordering on stealing and conspiracy.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Daniel Longwal, told the court that the case was reported on April 13, at the Anglo-Jos Police Station by one Bawa Markus of No 1, Gyang Fulani St. Ray Field, Jos.
Longwal said that the convict who reside at Kufang, Jos, conspired with one David now at large, attacked the complainant and dispossessed him of his phones, wallet containing N9,000 and his identity card all valued at N29,500.
The convict admitted committing the offences.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened Sections 59 and 272 of Plateau State Penal Code.
