FOLLOWING the killing of Barakat Bello and Azeezat Shomuyiwa at their residences at Akindele Local Government Area of Oyo State last week, the police hierarchy in the state has relocated to the crime scene to resolve the murder mysteries.
The officers who took special interest in the case include the state Commissioner of Police, Joe Nwachukwu Enwonwu; Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers of Moniya and Ojoo and other police tactical units, have relocated to the council area to solve the mystery of the killings.
This was contained in a press release made available to journalists by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Olugbenga Fadeyi, on Saturday.
Fadeyi, who stated that the murder of Azeezat seemed like a ritual killing as she had her head smashed with a stone, however, denied the news doing the rounds, especially on social media, that she was a student of the University of Ibadan.
He assured that the police would get to the root of both killings, while urging members of the public to be extra vigilant and security conscious at all times.
The PPRO said the command would also rejig its security architecture for maximum protection of lives and properties of residents of the state.
While Barakat was allegedly raped before being killed last Monday at her parents’ house, Azeezat had her head smashed with a stone in her rented apartment.
