In recognition of his humanitarian service to the community, an Information and Communication Technology expert, Babajide Aboaba, has been honoured with an honorary doctorate degree by Prowess University, Delaware, USA.
Aboaba was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy in Public Administration on Saturday during the 9th Annual Leadership Summit and Induction of Doctorate Degree Award Programme of Prowess University held at Julius Berger, University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos.
The IT expert, who is also a philanthropist, explained that he is contributing to humanity through the establishment of an initiative named, The Samaritan.
Speaking at the event, the African Representative of the University, Professor Eze Nwauba, explained that the awardee is honoured for his contributions to industrial and humanitarian excellence while urging him to do more.
Receiving the honorary degree, Babajide thanked the management of the university for the honour while pledging to contribute to the industrial growth of the country and continue to give back to society.
He said: “I appreciate the management of the university for the award, and I also pledged to continue to give back to society.
“As a God-fearing human being, I have decided to give back to humanity by engaging in charitable activities and helping the less privileged or physically challenged in our community.
These activities include the payment of school fees from primary school to secondary school and to university level, the payment of medical bills, empowerment programmes, medical outreach for old people, and providing support for widows and widowers.
“This has given me joy and happiness as a Nigerian by contributing my quota to the development, improvement, and alleviation of poverty as well as the wellbeing of our people.”
