I have been having cold and catarrh with cough and fever for the past one week despite using several medications. My test for malaria parasites was negative. Although my friends say that my problem is just a common cold but I am wondering if this is not Covid infection. What do you suggest that I do. Thanks.

COVID-19 is an extremely contagious respiratory illness caused by a type of virus (a coronavirus) called SARS-CoV-2. It’s a cousin of the common cold, but its potential consequences are far more serious: hospitalization, lasting complications, and death. Loss of taste and smell (in the absence of nasal congestion), fever, cough, shortness of breath, headache and runny nose are some of its symptoms similar to what you are currently experiencing. My advice will be for you to go for a Covid test. In the meantime, you should see a doctor who will prescribe some medications for your symptoms until your Covid test is released.

Rays of the afternoon sun pelted her head as she fanned the embers beneath the half-cut iron drum with the smoke permeating the air. “This smoke is unbearable, Iya Maria,” said one of the three neighbours conversing under a makeshift shed about five meters away.
