Igbobi College Yaba (ICY), Lagos, has unveiled series of activities in the pipeline towards the 90th anniversary celebration of the college coming up next year.
Unlike previous edition, the 90th Founder’s Day anniversary will be marked with a-year-long activities by the college stakeholders including Igbobi College Old Boys’ Association (ICOBA) who are spread across the globe.
Chairman, Board of Governors of the College, Mr Foluso Phillips, said at an event to unveil the plans that the anniversary is designed to significantly lift the College to greater heights.
Also speaking, President of ICOBA, Mr Olumuyiwa Kinoshi, said the anniversary would certainly give opportunity to stakeholders to take stock of the past and then plan for a better future for the College.
He said though it was well acknowledged that ICOBA worldwide had invested hugely by way of donations in cash and in physical infrastructure towards quality of teaching and learning and general development of the College, there were still lots more to do.
While noting that the efforts are to bring back the once sterling standards the school was known for in those days, he assured that the association would continue to work with other stakeholders towards achieving the aim.
Speaking on the anniversary, the chairman of the Planning Committee, Mr Femi Olubanwo, said the one-year-event with a theme ‘Producing leaders, yesterday, today and tomorrow,” would give stakeholders opportunities to support the College and the students appreciably.
He listed parts of the activities to include fundraising event to be held in Lagos on January 29th, conferment of the 2021 ICOBA merit awards on deserving individuals, cocktails and networking programme to celebrate the wives of College’s alumni across the globe, a Holy Communion service, Founders’ Day Service in Europe and also in Ibadan on February 12 and 13 respectively.
