National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC) has reiterated its commitment to training about 6,000 youths from the six N-HYPPADEC member states on various skills to be self-reliant.
The Commission stated this in a statement by its Managing Director, Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa in Minna on Monday, adding that 5000 youths have been trained for a period of three to six months depending on the skills in collaboration with the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) and other sister agencies.
Yelwa stated further that the scheme was held at various skills acquisition and vocational training centers across the country on the chosen trades while stipends were paid to the beneficiaries for feeding and transportation throughout the training period.
The MD noted that the Commission has reached an advanced stage in making provision for starter packs for the pioneer graduates of the programme and advised beneficiaries of the pilot programmes to liaise with the N-HYPPADEC State Coordinator in their respective states to register with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) to enable them not only get the starter packs but access grants and other opportunities from relevant organisations.
