Highway robber shot dead by police during operations in Ogun

Police in Ogun State shot dead a highway robber during operations along Sagamu-Ikenne Expressway, on Sunday evening.
The dead armed robber and his gang members were said to be operating between Adelex filing station and Ladgroup company, dispossessing motorists and commuters their valuables at gunpoint.
It was gathered that a distress call was put through to the Divisional Police Officer of Ikenne Division, CSP Ndoukauba Onuma, while policemen mobilised to the scene.
The robbers, on sighting policemen, engaged them in a gun duel but were overpowered which resulted in the death of one of the robbers while other members escaped with gun injuries.
A mock gun, a Toyota Corolla car with registration number OGUN KNN 84 TD suspected to have been snatched from the owner was recovered.
The State Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, had ordered a manhunt on the fleeing members of the gang.
He also appealed to the general public especially hospitals and traditional healers to notify the police if they sight anybody with a gunshot injury in their area.
The CP, therefore, assured the good people of the state that the command is determined more than ever to ensure their safety at all time especially as the Yuletide season approaches.
