Pupils know why it is important to do exercise or just think it is part of their extra-curricular activities. Some pupils of Barokallahu Nursery & Primary School, Ori-Eru Alarobo area, Dizengoff bus stop, Iwo-Road, Ibadan spoke with Aunty Yemi on the topic.

Awwal Hammed, 6yrs old

I learnt that exercising is the physical activity that makes me  healthy especially for my muscles to work well. Running is my best exercise during our sports period in school but while at home, I enjoy skipping and jumping.

Hamed Boladale, 7 yrs old

My teacher told me that if I do not exercise regularly, my bones would not grow very well and that when I exercise very well, it would help my heart and other parts of my body to function well. I like participating in  all forms of exercises since they are for my good. Exercise helps me not to be lazy at doing things that requires energy.

Farrih Olayiwola, 6 yrs old

Exercises help our body’s fitness. My teacher said that it is dangerous for human beings not to  exercise because some organs of the body will not function well. For example, our heart where blood is pumped.

Uthmar Anifowose, 6yrs old

We do sports activities every Wednesday in my school. It is always a time I enjoy because everyone would exercise their body parts. We would shake our hands, legs, waists and sweat would come out of our bodies.

Basit Oladosu, 5 yrs old

Every week, we do exercise in my school. It makes everybody happy. My teacher told us that we need to exercise at home too because it would help our bodies to fit. She said that exercise do not allow us to stay fall sick. Anytime I have opportunity to jog and run especially when I am at, home I do it very well.

Khalid Popoola, 7 yrs old

On our sports day, our teachers always remind us that if we do not exercise our bodies, we would not become smart children. So I participate well because I want to look very smart as I grow. In addition, I learnt that exercise helps our brain develops very well. When it is time for exercise in school, I always feel happy.

Rofia Yusuff, 7 yrs old

There is a time my school has set aside every Wednesday for exercises. I always look forward to the day and time of the week because it is usually an interesting time for us and our teachers. That time, our teachers teach us the importance of  sports and what might happen to our bodies if we do not exercise, such as heart disease and too much weight.

Azeez Zainab, 6 yrs old

I enjoy frog jump as a form of exercise. Whenever we are doing exercise, my teacher says doing it builds our bones and muscles. I do not like missing the period because it is always a happy time with classmates.

Faidat Lawal, 7 yrs old

We do exercises once in a week but I also engage in any form outside the school premises such as running because it moves me feel lively even if no one joins me. One of the things I like about exercising is that one can do it alone.

Aisha Farayola, 6 yrs old

Our teacher told us that exercising helps people to be in a happy mood. When we  exercise in school, there is no one who is not in a happy mood. Exercising helps children play together and compete. I always enjoy the period.

Kamildeen Anas, 7 yrs old

My teacher taught us that when we  exercise, our hearts function well and will live longer. She said diseases of the heart, liver and lungs are far from anyone who does regular exercises.

Abdulquwhi Oladosu, 7 yrs old

My teacher told us that exercising helps our immune system so we would not be falling sick frequently. For example, when one feels cold and does exercises, the cold will disappear because of the heat that will come out of the body during exercise.

Fridaous Aderemi, 6 yrs old

It is true that exercising helps the body to keep fit because anytime I engage in my favourite body movements I feel differently. I feel good in my body, not heavy. Thanks to the people who introduced exercising to us.

Muhydeen Muthumadna, 7 yrs old

Once in a week, we do exercise in my school. Everybody comes out of his or her class to be involved. I learnt the simple exercises that I can do as a kid – jumping, skipping, running, swinging, etc. I have also learnt ways to be careful in order not to injure others and myself.

Abdullahi Ayanlowo, 6 yrs old

Exercise is the physical activity that we do that helps our body to remain fit and healthy. I enjoy jogging among other exercises.

Afusoh Muideen, 6 yrs old

As for me, I enjoy jumping and running. They are simple exercises for children and they help us not to be too fat.
