Unemployed man jailed for impersonation

A 36-year-old unemployed man, Adewale Adegoke, who impersonated a staff of Lekki Concessioner Company (LCC), was on Friday sentenced to one month imprisonment by an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.

Adegoke, whose address was not given, pleaded guilty to a one-count charge of impersonation.

Magistrate D. Kusani, however, gave Adegoke an option of N20,000 fine.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Mawari Solomon, had told the court that the convict presented himself as a staff of LCC.

Solomon said that the convict wore the company’s reflective jacket with LCC boldly printed on the jacket.

He said Adegoke committed the offence on July 2 at the junction opposite to Elegushi Palace in Eti-Osa, Lagos.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 79 (b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
