Lagos State yet again emerged leader among the 36 states in terms of revenue generation as it recorded the highest Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) figure of N302.42 billion in full year 2016 according to figures from National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
The state is followed by Rivers State which garnered N85.29 billion while Ebonyi State generated the lowest IGR. The State generated N2.34 billion.
However, Anambra is yet to report its 2016 IGR figure.
A total of N801.95 billion was generated by the 35 states that have so far reported their full year 2016 IGR figure and the revenue was generated across pay as you earn (PAYE), direct assessment, road taxes, revenue from Ministries, departments and agencies, and other taxes.
A sample of how other states performed shows that Abia State IGR decreased from N16.75bn in 2012 to N13.35bn in 2015. Stands at N12.69bn in 2016.
For Adamawa State, the figure decreased from N4.61bn in 2012 to N4.45bn in 2015. Stands at N5.79bn in 2016.
Internally Generated Revenues for Akwa Ibom State increased from N13.52bn in 2012 to N14.79bn in 2015. It stands at N23.27bn in 2016.
Anambra State’s IGR increased from N7.60bn in 2012 to N14.79bn in 2015.
Bauchi State increased its independent revenue from N4.06bn in 2012 to N5.39bn in 2015. The figure stands at N8.67bn in 2016.
Internally Generated Revenues for Bayelsa State increased from N4.96bn in 2012 to N8.71bn in 2015. Stands at N7.91bn in 2016.
The government of Mr. Ayodele Fayose in Ekiti State has decreased IGR from N3.79bn in 2012 to N3.29bn in 2015. The figure stands at N2.99bn in 2016.
Internally Generated Revenues for Kaduna State increased from N11.53bn in 2012 to N11.54bn in 2015. Stands at N17.05bn in 2016.
For Kano State, IGR increased from N11.05bn in 2012 to N13.61bn in 2015. Stands at N30.96bn in 2016.
MDAs Generated N10.21bn Revenue for the State in Full Year 2016. The highest among other sources.
Ogun State increased its IGR from N12.44bn in 2012 to N34.59bn in 2015. The figure by the end of 2016 was N72.98bn in 2016.
Internally Generated Revenues for Ondo State decreased from N10.15bn in 2012 to N10.09bn in 2015. It stands at N8.68bn in 2016.
Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola’s Osun State experienced decreased IGR from N5.02bn in 2012 to N8.07bn in 2015. The figure was N8.88bn by end 2016.
In Oyo State IGR increased from N14.59bn in 2012 to N15.66bn in 2015. It further grew to N18.88bn in 2016.
