The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) has called on the government to ensure clarity, consistency and legal certainty in the implementation of its ongoing reforms.
The President of the association, Otunba Francis Meshioye, made the call in Lagos while unveiling activities lined up for the association’s 54th Annual General Meeting (AGM), scheduled to hold from 4 to 6 October this year in Lagos.
Citing the ongoing tax reforms of the Federal Government, Otunba Meshioye stated that while the association would always support measures aimed at improving tax administration and strengthening fiscal sustainability in the country, the reforms must, however, promote investment, productive enterprise and the competitiveness of Nigerian businesses.
The MAN boss also stressed the imperative for Nigeria to address the more fundamental question of building a productive and competitive industrial economy capable of positioning the country strongly within Africa and the global marketplace.
Otunba Meshioye noted that while the Nigeria Industrial Policy (NIP) 2025, formally launched by the Federal Government in February 2026, represented a roadmap for strengthening Nigeria’s industrial base, ensuring that the new framework translated into measurable improvements in industrial performance remained a major challenge.
The MAN boss explained that the AGM’s theme, “Leveraging National Industrial Policy to Position Nigeria as Africa’s Industrial Hub,” provides an opportunity for manufacturers, government, policymakers, development partners and other stakeholders to examine how NIP 2025 could move from aspiration to measurable industrial outcomes.
He explained that one of the highlights of the AGM would be the 6th Adeola Odutola Lecture.
According to him, the lecture represents a major public policy conversation in this year’s programme, with Dr Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella, former Director-General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), as the guest speaker.
