…canvases unity for Oyo development

The Chairman of the Oyo State Water Corporation and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant, Hon. Elias Adeojo, has empowered no fewer than 150 widows, aged persons, and artisans across the 10 wards of Ido Local Government Area.

The empowerment programme, held on Monday at the PDP Secretariat in Ido Local Government area of Oyo State, featured the distribution of food items and other support materials aimed at cushioning the prevailing economic hardship and improving the livelihoods of beneficiaries.

Addressing beneficiaries and party faithful at the event, Adeojo said the initiative was conceived to promote inclusiveness and ensure that residents remain active stakeholders in the state’s development drive. He explained that the gesture was also in support of the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde and the sustenance of gains recorded under the Omituntun agenda, particularly as the state sets its sights on Omituntun 3.0.

Adeojo acknowledged the biting economic realities confronting Nigerians, noting that small but consistent interventions could make a significant difference in households. “There is obvious widespread hunger in the land, and the little we can do to support our people is what we are committed to,” he said. “Assistance such as providing food and supporting family needs can go a long way in alleviating hardship. This is beyond politics. We are placing everything in God’s hands and trusting Him to guide our affairs. Those who did not benefit today will certainly have their turn tomorrow.”

The governorship hopeful also seized the occasion to appeal to aggrieved PDP members who left the party following past internal crises to return to the fold. He likened the party’s trajectory to a moving train, urging estranged members to rejoin and work collectively toward shared prosperity under Governor Makinde’s leadership. “Unity is key if we must consolidate on the achievements of this administration and deliver more dividends of democracy,” he added.

In his remarks, the PDP Chairman in Ido Local Government, Hon. Emiola Musibau, lauded Adeojo’s intervention, describing it as a reflection of his late father’s legacy. He recalled that Alhaji Yekeen

Adeojo, a former PDP stalwart, was widely known for his generosity and people-oriented politics, virtues he said the younger Adeojo continues to uphold.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Adeola Ogunjimi from Ward 4, Apete, described the programme as timely and commendable. While thanking the donor for his generosity, she pledged to make judicious use of the items received, adding that the support, though modest, would ease pressing needs in her household.

The event was attended by PDP leaders, community stakeholders, and scores of party supporters drawn from across the local government.
