Oyo farmers eulogise late leader

FARMERS in Oyo State have started paying tributes to the late Balogun Baale-Agbe of Oyo State, Alhaji Ganiyu Adekunle Alagbon, who died in the early hours of Sunday.

Secretary of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Oyo State, Adewunmi Abass Adekunle, described late  Alagbon as a very strong pillar of support for farmers in the state, whose love for the unity of farmers in Oyo state cannot in any way be quantified.

“We were together at an event in Ibadan last Wednesday where he told me that we should convene a meeting next  Wednesday to resolve some pending issues within the farmers’ society. I was shocked to receive the news of his death.

“I pray that he finds forgiveness from God, while I sympathise with his immediate family members, friends, associates as well as farmers in Oyo state. I also pray that God grant the repose of his soul and grant all of us the fortitude to bear  the loss.”

Also, Jagun Baale-Agbe, Oyo State and Secretary-in-council, Alhaji Abdullahi Kasali, while eulogising the deceased said the late Balogun Baale-Agbe, contributed immensely to the peace being enjoyed between farmers and herdsmen in Oyo  State, saying Alagbon, travelled around the nooks and crannies of the state to ensure there is peace between farmers and herdsmen.

“This, Kasali, said has encouraged farmers who have been chased away from the farms as a result of the incessant clash between farmers and herdsmen to return. He was an advocate of peace and will be sorely missed,” he concluded.

The representative of Baale-Agbe in  Oke-Ogun, Adejuwon Taiwo, said the late Baale-Agbe, used his money and time to assist the farmers’ society. “Whenever we have financial difficulty, baba was always available by assisting with his personal money because of his love for farmers in the state. We pray that God forgives him and rest his soul.”

Chairman, Baale-Agbe, Oyo West local government and Oyo Zone, Alhaji Sarafadeen, said:” Baba Alagbon, accommodated everyone, family members, friends and farmers across the state. He was a father figure who will be greatly missed.
