THE Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi have waded into the feud between two prominent Yoruba leaders, the national leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.Â
The duo has been at loggerheads over the control of the APC in Osun State, especially the alleged imposition of the incumbent governor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola on the party by Tinubu.Â
This development has pitted members of the Osun Progressives group led by Aregbesola against members of Ileri Oluwa led by Oyetola.Â
Aregbesola alleged Tinubu of imposing Oyetola on the state against the will of members of the party in the state.Â
The crisis snowballed during the last APC congress with the emergence of two factional chairmen, Prince Gboyega Famidu and Rasaq Salinsile. Prince Famidu was said to be enjoying the support of the national secretariat of the party.Â
Disturbed by this development and dangers it portend for the unity of the Yoruba race, the two prominent Yoruba monarchs resolved during a meeting with Aregbesola to put an end to the lingering feud.Â
The meeting which was held behind closed doors at a popular Guest House owned by Alaafin of Oyo in Onireke, Ibadan North-West Local Government of the state had in attendance Ogbeni Aregbesola.Â
The meeting, as reliably hinted, was a first step to reconcile the duo and their teeming followers especially in Osun State.Â
It was gathered that the lingering feud, if remains unchecked, will destroy the fabrics of unity of Yoruba race.Â
However, Aregbesola, declined comment on the outcome of the meeting but one of his aides who preferred anonymity said the meeting was a huge success.
