NSE inducts 295 UI engineering graduates

The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Ibadan branch, has inducted 295 engineering graduates from the University of Ibadan’s 2023/2024 academic session into the society.

The ceremony was held at the lecture theatre of the Faculty of Technology, University of Ibadan.

Speaking on the theme of the event, “Engineering Theory to Praxis: Expectations from Young Engineers in Solving Real-World Problems”, the President of the NSE, Mrs. Margaret Oguntala, challenged young engineers to think deeply and explore new and underdeveloped areas of engineering.

Oguntala, who was represented at the event, urged the inductees to adhere strictly to the highest standards of professional ethics.

She also called on fellows and elders of the profession to take a special interest in mentoring the new inductees.

“We have invaluable knowledge and experience to share, and I encourage all to mentor these young engineers, guiding them to reach their full potential,” she said.

Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of NSE, Ibadan Branch, Mr. Ibraheem Folarin Bello, urged the inductees to be guided by ethics, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

He said, “The challenges before our nation are vast—from energy and infrastructure to technology and sustainability—and the solutions lie in the minds and hands of capable young engineering graduates.”

He encouraged the inductees to actively engage with NSE as their professional home, noting that the society would remain committed to supporting their growth through mentorship, professional development, networking, and advocacy.

The event also featured award presentations to the overall best graduating male and female students, as well as the best graduating students from the engineering departments in the Faculty of Technology.
