The Musical Copyright Society of Nigeria Ltd.Gte (MCSN) has added to its booming membership with the addition of frontline entertainment label, Dove Entertainments, owned by popular producer; Nelson Brown, who formally joined the 0Society last week with works he has produced since 1994.
Brown has produced many hit songs with stars from Ajegunle (AJ) and other areas of Lagos State including Daddy Showkey, Daddy Fresh, Baba Fryo, late Sound Sultan, African China, Tuface, and the Plantation Boys; he joins the MCSN with a very rich catalogue of musical works as a producer and a label owner.
The versatile producer was welcomed to the Society by the Chairman of the Board of MCSN, Orits Williki, and its Chief Executive Officer, Mayo Ayilaran.
In his welcome address, Ayilaran who formally introduced the Society to the producer informed him that the core objective of MCSN is the protection of the copyright of its members and assured him that the Society protects all members in whatever form that is legitimate, including litigation without members spending any amount by themselves.
Williki on his part assured him that whatever he may have lost in terms of royalties, MCSN will get it back for him from now, adding that “In case of infringements, all MCSN requires of you is just to file complaints and leave the rest for the Society.”
Brown on his part said he was motivated to join MCSN because he has found so many of his works produced by him on the net, especially YouTube without knowing how it got there.
“I don’t know how the works got to the net; I wonder who gave them the permission for that,” he emphasised.
