The Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), retired Col. Muhammad Abdallah, has appointed Mr Jonah Achema as the new Spokesperson of the anti-narcotics Agency.

Achema, is to take over from Ofoyeju Mitchell who has been redeployed to the Edo Command.

Ofoyeju, the out-going spokesperson, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.‎
‎
Until his present appointment as Principal Staff Officer Public Affairs, Achema was the Assistant Commander Administration and Logistics at the Enugu State Command of the agency.‎ He attended University of Jos, in Plateau state. He had his secondary education at Ife Community Secondary School, Abejukoloife, in Kogi State.

Ofoyeju, who has been Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the NDLEA since 2007, expressed appreciation to the management for giving him the opportunity to serve the country and also thanked members of the media for their support.

“I remain grateful to management for the opportunity to serve this country in the above capacity.

“I am equally indebted to my colleagues in the media for the immense support I enjoyed during my tenure.

“I humbly request that you accord my successor full cooperation for him to excel in his new assignment,” he said.‎

The posting is in line with established policy of appointments and transfers in the Agency and all handing and taking over documentations are to be completed on or before Aug. 7.

Achema on his Facebook page said he was humbled by his appointment. He also noted that the messages of goodwill that he had gotten had been phenomenal.

“The goodwill that greeted my reassignment is, to say the least, phenomenal. Who is he that men (women inclusive) are this mindful of? I am humbled! May I meet all expectations, God helping me. Amen! To all my well wishers, I am short of words, even with the 20th Century Chambers’ Dictionary. I plead that you accept my hearty appreciation, please!”, he wrote.
