President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been praised for nominating Mrs Uju Ohahenye as a Minister, with many describing it as well-deserved.
Speaking with newsmen in Owerri on Friday, an Abuja-based lawyer, Mr Wisdom Okechukwu, described Ohanenye as a suitable candidate for the role, adding that her experience as a senior lawyer cum entrepreneur will be invaluable for Nigeria’s growth and development.
It was learned that on Thursday, the Senate received Tinubu’s list of ministerial nominees, which includes 28 names, comprising 21 males and seven females.
Okechukwu described Ohanenye, a mother of four, as a goal-setter and achiever, evident in her establishment and management of businesses such as the Kenuj 02 mall in Abuja and Owerri, showcasing her penchant for success and local content development.
He also highlighted Ohanenye’s humanitarian efforts in assisting the less privileged by establishing health centres in rural areas of Kogi, Kaduna, Kano, Imo, and Anambra, and urged her not to relent in her philanthropic endeavours.
He said, “Ohanenye is a solicitor and advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, specialising in corporate law, litigation, and intellectual property rights.”
According to him, Ohanenye’s determination was evident when she defied the odds to become the first female presidential aspirant of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), breaking barriers.
Okechukwu mentioned that students, widows, and members of the lower class have all benefited from her acts of compassion and charity.
He said, “She is, therefore, the right peg in the right hole, and it is only right that we thank Mr President for doing a fantastic job with this nomination.”
However, he urged Ohanenye, as well as other nominees, to bring their wealth of experience and compassion for humanity to bear when they are eventually appointed Ministers of the Federal Republic.
