Ogbomoso was agog on Saturday, April 29, 2023 when foremost institution, Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomoso, rolled out some honours to deserving personalities selected from various sectors and parts of the country.
Former principal secretary to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Ambassador Hassan Tukur, Chief Executive Officer of Bovas Petroleum, Madam Victoria Samson, Managing Director of Tulcan Energy, Tayo Adiatu and retired Air Vice-Marshall Jacob Adigun were all conferred with honorary doctorate degrees at the 16th convocation of LAUTECH.
The event, which started with a facility tour and turning of soil of some projects within the campus, was filled with excitement, colourful and spectacular display from the police band.
Present at the convocation was the governor of Osun State, Senator Demola Adeleke, Oyo State deputy governor, Mr Bayo Lawal, Professor Wale Omole, Hajia Asmau Tukur, Sir Nelson Ahaneku, Professor Mohammed Kaoje, Dr Nurudeen Muhammed, Wole Arisekola, Molgengo Kaltungo among many other prominent people.
Ambassador Tukur, who flew in from Abuja with his family and friends, was delighted to have received the award as he disclosed that he wanted to be a lecturer before destiny changed his plans and he found himself in diplomacy and he felt the recognition in the academic world is unique and well appreciated.
