Kwara unemployed youths urged to avoid national hunger protest

An association under the umbrella of the Unemployed Youth Association of Nigeria (UYAN), Kwara State Chapter, in Kano, has called on all unemployed youths in Kwara State and across the 19 states of the country to ignore joining the nationwide protest commencing tomorrow.

“We understand the frustrations and concerns of our fellow citizens, but we, the UYAN Kwara State Chapter, are against the planned protest,” said Comrade Rasheed Shuaib, Chairman of UYAN Kwara State Chapter, during a press conference on Wednesday in Kano.

Comrade Shuaib urged the body to “exercise patience with the federal government led by President Ahmed Bola Tinubu.”

“While the current situation is far from perfect, we believe that things will get better soon,” he added.

He emphasized, “As youths, we have a crucial role in protecting our national assets and promoting peace. We don’t have another country to call our own, so let’s work together to build a better Nigeria.”

The group urged fellow youths to “be patient and give the government a chance to address our concerns. Let us engage in constructive dialogue and collaborate with the government to find solutions to our challenges.”

Comrade Shuaib also highlighted, “While we acknowledge the government’s palliative measures across the states, we are saddened that these palliatives often do not reach the targeted audience.

“We advocate for monitoring and evaluation (M&E) by Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to ensure effective implementation.”
