Kwara state government has promised collaboration with individuals and corporate organisations to ensure access to quality healthcare and economic empowerment to underserved communities in the state.
Speaking on the sidelines of the unveiling and fundraising project of Damilola Wale-Aremu Charity (DWAC) Foundation in Ilorin, the state commissioner for Communications, Mrs. Bolanle Olukoju, said that the state government is committed to supporting and collaborating with responsible organisations to improve the living standards of the people.
Olukoju said that nongovernmental groups must undertake sustainable programmes with impact on the less privileged in line with the policy of the present administration.
At the event, themed ‘Missing Middle: Youth Bridging Power and Possibility’, the governor’s aide said that the state government has provided an opportunity for the young demography to thrive.
“This foundation is one of the key elements the state government is interested in working, supporting and collaborating with, like other organisations, in terms of providing health care awareness for our people,” she said.
Also speaking, founder of the DWAC, Damilola Wale-Aremu, said that the foundation was out to change the narrative of idleness among youth and empower the less privileged economically.
“This moment represents a desire to create something truly meaningful for our communities, particularly those who have long been overlooked.
“Our theme for today ‘The missing middle: youth bridging power and possibility’, captures one of the essential truths that led to the creation of this foundation: Young people are not without power. They are simply underutilised.
“They are the bridge between where we are and where we must go. Yet far too often, they find themselves stuck in the middle-brimming with potential, but lacking the resources, support, or platforms needed to transform that potential into real progress.
“At DWAC Foundation, we are determined to change this. Our mission is to increase health awareness, ensure access to quality healthcare, and economically empower underserved communities.
“This is not simply a launch event. It is a declaration that we will not sit idly by waiting for change, but that we will be the change. It is an invitation to invest in, partner with, and uplift a foundation ready to act. And it is a promise – that we will measure our success not in accolades, but in lives transformed, voices amplified, and communities restored,” she said.
The occasion, which featured a panel session, had in attendance the state Chairman of APC, Prince Sunday Adeniran Fagbemi; his Lagos State counterpart, the state Commissioner for Finance, Dr Hauwa Nuru; her counterpart in Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Afees Abolore Alabi; local government chairmen and traditional rulers, among others.
