I am a 55-year-old man who snores a lot. Apart from being a nuisance to my wife, I want to know if snoring has any negative effect on my health and how to stop the habit.

Yes, snoring has long term negative health implications. These include; Decreased blood oxygen levels (hypoxia), Difficulty concentrating, Fatigue (feeling very tired during the day), Heart attack, High blood pressure, Stroke and the possibilities of having Type 2 diabetes.
In order to reduce or totally avoid snoring, it is advisable to do the following; If you’re overweight, lose weight, Sleep on your side, Raise the head of your bed, use Nasal strips or an external nasal dilator, Treat nasal congestion or obstruction, Limit or avoid alcohol and sedatives, Quit smoking and Get enough sleep.
