It is the era of wigs in women fashion and wearing wig is the trend; Wigs are indeed an important fashion accessory for women. And because wearing wigs brings makes life easier; it is now a norm for many to ignore their natural hair and allow it to stay in unpleasant clumps on their head.
Some people cannot remove their wigs outside because of the terrible situation of their normal hair because doing such may lead to some embarrassing moments. But embarrassing moments is just a tip of the challenges that can come from neglecting natural hair and hiding it under a wig.
Often, in order to avoid these embarrassing moments, wig glues and adhesives are used to hold the wigs on the scalp. This however leads to some challenges to hair health by compromising edges, the vitality, and overall health of the natural hair.
This challenge of bad hair health can however be managed while looking beautiful and the edges can be maintained in the process if the following tips are followed;
Refrain from excessive use lace front wigs in order to minimise the effects of glues and adhesives on hair. Wearing lace front wigs can be limited to special occasions.
Avoid applying glue in your hair; use adhesives below the hairline or cover hairline with a wig cap.
While it is impossible to avoid harmful chemicals altogether, short-term adhesives tend to be less damaging because they are easier to remove and begin to lift faster, the use of short-term adhesives and less harsh glues should be used where possible.
The hair underneath the wig needs extra attention so it should not be neglected. So it is important to nurture the natural hair with good hair products.
Exercise patience when removing your wig. Do not pull it off quickly as this can contribute to hair loss and scalp irritation and even wounds, it creates an experience similar to that of waxing the head.
When in use, try not to lift and adjust the wig once it has been put into place with the adhesive. The more you remove the wig after applying glue, the more damage you may be inviting to your scalp and hair.
