The member of the House of Representatives representing Ibadan South East/North East constituency in Oyo State, Abass Adigun, narrated how he was nearly assassinated in an attack last Thursday.
Adigun, popularly called Agboworin, noted that the attack occurred barely two minutes after his campaign trail left Ile-tutun for the Elenusonso area of the state capital.
Contrary to rumours that the councillor for Ward 10 in Ibadan South East Local Government, Sulimon Ariyibi, was macheted to death, Adigun disclosed that the councillor was shot at close range and killed by thugs loyal to a rival political party.
“The serving councillor had just emerged from his house alongside another councillor from ward 6 when the assailants attacked and shot him.
“I left America to see how we can make life better for Nigerians. I could have stayed back to enjoy my retirement benefits as a naval officer but I came into politics and this is what is happening. However, I am not discouraged,” Adigun said.
