Nigeria-American recording artist and entrepreneur Samuel Apata, popularly known as Ewol Samo, has officially announced the title and tracklist for his forthcoming album, “Mama’s Son.” This 14-track project is set to premiere worldwide on January 13, 2024.
In a recent telephone interview, Ewol Samo shared his dedication to this project: “I literally put my sweat and blood into making this album, and I hope everyone who listens to it will press play and enjoy it from start to finish.” This release marks his second major work, following his 2023 debut, “Get It In The Blood.”
“Mama’s Son” promises a collection of timeless tracks suitable for both road trips and relaxed gatherings. The album boasts rich sonics and melodies designed to take listeners on a groovy journey of optimism from the opening “Intro” to the closing track, “4%,” featuring Rico Recklezz.

Born on April 8, 1992, in Ibadan, Nigeria, Ewol Samo relocated to Chicago’s South Side during his youth. Growing up in the “Trigga Town” area, he faced numerous challenges but found solace in music, drawing inspiration from both American and African artists. His influences include Michael Jackson, DMX, Lil Wayne, 50 Cent, Gucci Mane, Fela Kuti, 2Baba, Lagbaja, Sunny Ade, Akon, and Styl-Plus.
Ewol Samo is also known for his collaborations within the Chicago drill scene, notably with his cousin, Rico Recklezz. Their joint efforts have significantly impacted the local music landscape.
