The Revenue Cycle Services of EEDC, Mr Chukwuemeka Eze, made the promise yesterday, during the company’s forum for its customers in Ekwulobia Business District in Oko, Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra state.
Eze expressed concern about the attitude of customers who reject smart prepaid meters and blamed it on ignorance noting that, that was the only way they could pay exactly for what they consumed.
“We require about N70 billion to meter all customers in the network, EEDC remains the only Disco that is issuing prepaid metre free in Nigeria and customers are encouraged not to induce any staff,” he said, adding, “As a business EEDC was determined to ensure value for the money they paid for electricity and encouraged customers to keep track of periods they enjoyed electricity.
He urged customers to get involved in the process by liaising with feeder managers in the areas to determine the length of period they enjoyed supply so that the billing manager could reflect it in the bill.
He strongly reminded consumers to ensure regular payment of their bills even as he and assured that the prepaid metering process was on top gear adding that all customers who have applied would be served soon.
Voicing out their plight, one of the customers, Mr Eugene Nwankwo lamented that the major complaint of customers was epileptic and no power supply which they were being made to pay for.
Nwankwo, however, suggested a load shedding schedule which according to him, would enable communities and individuals who were in bulk and estimated billing respectively to track supply.
Also contributing, another customer, Mr Nwosu Anto alleged that officials of EEDC demanded money from his community before a transformer donated to it could be installed.
Nwosu from who hails from Oko commended the distribution company for organizing the forum, hoping that it would lead to a better relationship and service delivery.
In his Mr Frank Ejiofor who was the chairman of the occasion said the forum which was first in 2018 was geared towards serving EEDC customers better.
