Anambra 2021: 6 APGA lawmakers join APC

Ahead of November 6 governorship election in Anambra State, six serving lawmakers in the State Assembly who are members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The new entrants into the ruling party were received into their new platform, on Tuesday evening, in Abuja by Yobe State governor and Chairman APC Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Mai Mala Buni.

The six state lawmakers included; Honourable Nonso Okafor, representing Nnewi North; HonourableTimothy Ifedioramma, representing Njikoka 1; Honourable Cater D. N Umeoduagu, representing Aguata 1; Honourable Lawrence Ezeudu, representing Dumekofia and Honourable Arthur Chiekwu, representing Idemmih North.

Also in the team that was received by Governor Buni was Honourable Edward Ibuzo, representing Onisha North 2.

Receiving the new APC members,  Governor Buni said the party’s determination to win the Anambra governorship informed the new membership drive in the Southeast state.

He said: “Mere looking at what is happening, especially now that so prominent and serving state lawmakers have started joining, the grassroots is moving and Anambra people are moving to the APC.”

In his own remarks, Imo State governor Hope Uzodinma said the Southeast people have woken up and the region is committed to national politics and be part and parcel of Nigeria.

Governor Uzodimma who incidentally is the Chairman of the APC Campaign Council for the Anambra Governorship election expressed confidence that his party will win the Anambra State governorship election.

The new APC members described the ruling party APC as a preferred political party in Nigeria and promised to mobilise support towards victory in the November 6 governorship polls.

The brief ceremony held at Imo State Governor’s Lodge was attended by top members of the party including, the Governors of Lagos, Osun, Kogi and the Imo States.
