NASARAWA State Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-makura, has officially upgraded the traditional stool of Uehra Ashea from a third to a second class status.
The governor made the officially upgrade on Monday, through the presentation of 2nd Class Staff of Office to His Royal Highness, Mr Christopher Jatau, the Uehra Ashea.
Speaking at the occasion, Al-makura said, the upgrade is in line with his administration’s commitment to protect the sanctity of the Traditional Institution, aimed at extolling their roles as the conscience of the society.
The governor explained that, his government has made the traditional institution a reservoir of wisdom which his administration is obliged to tap from.
The governor added that, the involvement of traditional rulers in implementing policies and programmes of government, especially as it pertains to the sustenance of peace and harmony in the society, will go a long way in producing citizens that are responsive and economically productive.
“It is for this reason that this Administration evolved initiatives that will elevate the status of the traditional stools, as well as provide avenues for enhanced welfare for our royal fathers. In this regard, we have, since assumption of office, created more chiefdoms with a view to giving every community a sense of belonging,” the governor said.
Al-makura assured the people of the community that, the ongoing construction of Gitata-Panda-Gurku road will be completed in order to open the area for continued socio-economic activities.
