Barely 48 hours suspected Fulani herders killed ten people including two aid workers in the Guma local government area of Benue State, another thirteen people have also been murdered.
The latest killings occurred, on Tuesday, at separate attacks, while five of the victims were said to be returning from burial, the other eight people were killed around 10.00 pm while asleep.
The first attack happened at Ulevkaa village and the second attack occurred at Branch Ude also in the Guma council area.
One of the sources who identified himself as Joe said that Fulani herdsmen opened fire on a Toyota Picnic vehicle killing a three-month-old baby who was shot in the chest, and his mother was shot on her lap.
The source further said that the same herders also shot a couple and as well as butchered another person identified as Solomon Kumaiin.
Also speaking on the attack, the chairman of the Guma local government, Caleb Aba said that the attacks occurred, on Tuesday.
“It is true that there was an attack yesterday (Tuesday). There was a burial in Torkula and people who were coming back from the burial came under attack and about five people were killed.
“At about 10 pm, yesterday there was another attack at Branch Ude where about eight people were killed totalling about 13 people only yesterday (Tuesday).
“Two people were injured by the information I received and they are now receiving treatment in the hospital,” the council chairman said.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP, Catherine Anene said she was yet to receive the report.
