Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has signed the Osun State Park Management Bill into law, introducing a new regulatory framework for the management of motor parks and transport operations across the state.

Adeleke signed the legislation on Monday at the Government House, Osogbo, shortly after the bill was passed by the Osun State House of Assembly.

The governor said the new law was aimed at addressing longstanding challenges in the management of motor parks and facilitating the modernisation of the transport sector for the benefit of commuters and operators.

Adeleke, who commended the Speaker of the Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, and other lawmakers for their role in the process, said the legislation would provide a framework for resolving the recurring crisis associated with the state’s transport park system.

“I have gone through the bill as passed by the House, and I am convinced that it is the best solution to the perennial crisis and challenges facing the Osun transportation park system,” the governor said.

He directed that implementation of the law should commence immediately, assuring transport stakeholders that relevant interests would be accommodated in the management structure.

According to him, the objective is to establish an efficient transport park system capable of improving service delivery and creating a more orderly environment for commuters and operators across the state.

Earlier, Egbedun said the Assembly followed its standing rules in considering and passing the legislation, noting that the law was designed to address concerns surrounding the management of motor parks in Osun.

The Speaker added that the legislation also incorporated sustainable transport practices as part of efforts to develop a more organised and modern park management system.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi; Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye; Head of Service, Ayanleye Aina; members of the State Executive Council and other senior government officials.
