The Zamfara State Ministry of Enviroment and Natural Resources, through Agro-Climate Resillience in Semi Arid Landscape (ACreSAL) project, has organised sensitisation on erosion control in six (6) communities in the state.

The targeted areas for the sensitisation on erosion control included communities of Masallacin Kanoma, Hayin Buba, Alfijir Bread, Bayan Jifatu, Hayin Danhausa and Gadar Baga in Gusau metropolis.

Speaking during the sensitisation held at Masallacin Kanoma and Gadar Baga on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively, the state ACreSAL project Coordinator Nasiruddeen Bello represented by Akilu Mayana disclosed that six communities of Bulka corridor erosion control project were targeted for the sensitisation.

“This sensitisation was aimed at further highlighting to communities on dangers associated with the floods, including erosion and health hazards.

According to him, state government, through ACreSAL project, has planned to construct 5.6 kilometres of erosion control from Masallacin Kanoma to Gadar Baga, urging the affected to support the state government toward the success of the project.

“Participation of every stakeholder is important and crucial to the success and sustainability of this project,” he advised.

Those participants at the occasion included members from affected community, stakeholders, community leaders, religious leaders, civil society, media, line ministries and MDAs in the state.
