The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly condemned what it described as an “unprovoked public verbal assault” by Malam Bolaji Abdullahi, the Interim National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), insisting that the PDP remains robust and poised to defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, lambasted Abdullahi, whom he referred to as an “APC-indoctrinated” individual known for his past role as “chief image maker and defender of the lying, deceitful, corrupt and failed All Progressives Congress (APC).”
Ologunagba suggested that Abdullahi’s attack on the PDP, instead of addressing critical national issues, was a sign of frustration over the PDP’s growing momentum ahead of the 2027 elections.
“It is rather unfortunate that the APC-indoctrinated Abdullahi is apparently unhappy that the PDP is building momentum against the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections hence this resort to attacking the PDP instead of confronting the APC,” the statement read.
The PDP affirmed its status as the leading opposition party, enjoying widespread support across Nigeria, and vowed not to engage in verbal sparring with the ADC or any other opposition party. Instead, the party emphasized its commitment to challenging the “failed APC” on substantive issues, shaping national discourse, and mobilizing Nigerians to vote out the current administration in 2027.
“Despite the defections of some of our members, it is clear that Nigerians, who are the real organic strength of the PDP are still standing shoulder to shoulder with our Party,” the statement continued.
The PDP asserted its belief in its “support base, connections, national spread and political muscle to unseat the APC.”
The party also highlighted that it possesses “more than enough presidential personalities with clear records of achievement and capacity to defeat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at any time.”
However, the PDP reiterated its openness to collaborating with other “well-meaning and like-minded citizens and groups in the collective aspiration to rescue our nation from the APC.”
The PDP stated its current focus on consolidating recent reconciliatory efforts and the successful conclusion of its 101st National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, which reportedly addressed internal party stability and future strategies.
The party also confirmed its preparations for a “successful National Convention slated for 15th to 16th November, 2025 in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital,” stating it would not be “distracted by baseless attacks from known agents of the APC.”
