Students of Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Lagos, have elected and inaugurated a new set of leaders who will steer their affairs for the next one year.

They were inaugurated recently with the rector, Dr Ibraheem Adedotun and the dean of Students’ Affairs, Mr Olalekan Sharirudeen, in attendance.

The new officers are Morakinyo Olaolu as the President; Abdullahi A’Rahmon, Vice President (Academics); Lawal Idowu, Vice President (Administration); Agboola Oluwatobi, Vice President; (Epe Campus), Ojikutu Nofisat, General Secretary; Akinniyi Akinwande, Senate President; Cole Kolawole, Deputy Senate President and Bamidele Victor as Deputy Chief Judge), among others.

In his inaugural speech, the new president, Morakinyo,  thanked the students for voting him and others to be their leaders and also commended those who lost in the election for demonstrating the spirit of comradeship while soliciting the support and cooperation of the entire students to enable them to serve effectively.

He equally thanked the management of the college for allowing students’ unionism on campus, saying “it is a way of preparing us for the future.”

In his remark, the rector, Dr Ibraheem Adedotun, urged the new student leadership to work together in unity and also be transparent in their operations.

While pledging the support and cooperation of the management, he advised them not to be confrontational but to always approach the management for the audience on matters that concern the students.

He congratulated them and wished them a successful tenure.
