The National Association of Resident Doctors, Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto, has on Wednesday joined the nationwide strike declared by its parent body.
Our correspondent who monitored the development at the hospital gathered that only the senior medical personnel who are mostly members of Nigerian Medical Association were seen attending to patients.
When contacted, the chairman of the resident Doctors in the state, Dr Uzairu Abdullahi, confirms that his members have joined the strike in compliance with the decision of the national body.
Reacting to the unfortunate incident, Mallam Nuhu Abdullahi, a relative of one of the patients at the hospital, condemned the strike action embarked upon by the union.
He however appealed to the Federal government and all relevant stakeholders to do all what is necessary and bring the Doctors back to the hospital.
He described the current economic situation in the country as unhealthy, which he said will be difficult for anyone to approach private hospitals at this time.
