Travels recovered from COVID but insecurity remains a challenge —NANTA VP

Published by

THE travel industry in Nigeria has successfully recovered from the impact of COVID-19, but is still being hampered by the challenge of insecurity.

Babatunde Adesokan, the Vice President of the National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA), stated this at the inauguration of Anoiting Ventures Global Limited Travels and Tours in Ibadan, on Tuesday.

Adesokan who quoted the recent report of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) Economic Impact Report, said that the travel and tourism industry in Nigeria is expected to create 2.6 million new jobs over the next decade.

According to him, a report by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) said Africa witnessed a strong rebound month after month despite the pandemic.

However, this prospect may be threatened by the spate of insecurity in Nigeria. He said, “It is a fact that no person will travel to where he or she is not safe. Therefore, the number one thing to consider for any tourist is the safety of lives and properties.”

He, however, congratulated Oluwatoyin Olaofe, the Executive Director of Anoiting Ventures Global Limited, for “bringing alive this business venture to serve potential clients and create wealth and opportunities for the benefit of the people.”

Olaofe, on his part, said that he is in business to reduce the stress travellers face.

“One thing I want our customers to know is that I was once like them. I have travelled to several countries. One thing I noticed was that from the time you start planning your journey, you encounter stress as a traveller.

“So I went to study on how to remove this stress, and that is what we have started to do.

“Anoiting Ventures Global Limited is providing travelling services for individuals, families, and corporate clients including multinational and indigenous companies in Nigeria.

“With our extensive international partners, in-depth product knowledge of the travelling industry and prompt service delivery have given us a competitive advantage in the travelling and tourism industry.”
