Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) and other lawyers representing former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP); presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) are presently at the Supreme Court to commence the legal fireworks in the three appeals filed against the declaration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner of the February 25 presidential election.
Tribune Online gathered that the lawyers started arriving at the court as early as 7:30pm as there are serious security checks before accessing the courtroom.
The Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, the National Security Advisor (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu stormed the court room at exactly 8:50am to witness the proceedings of the apex court on the appeals.
The Supreme Court had, last week slated today for hearing of the appeals filed by Atiku, Obi along with their political parties and the APM challenging the judgement of the Presidential Election Petitions Court (PEPC) which upheld the victory of President Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The PEPC had, in a judgement delivered on September 6, 2023, dismissed all the petitions challenging the declaration of Tinubu as the winner of the February 25 presidential election on the ground that the petitioners failed to prove the allegations contained in their petitions.
Dissatisfied with the judgement of the lower court, the Petitioners approached the apex court with an appeal seeking the setting aside of the judgement
