The unilateral removal of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) by the President Muhammed Buhari-led Federal Government should be condemned by lovers of the rule of law in the country.
The news going round was that the president decided to put the constitution aside and allow his personal interest to prevail in the removal of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Walter Onnoghen because of legal tussel after the elections. Suspending Onnoghen without following the constitution is suspicious. Even if found guilty by the National Judicial Council (NJC), he should not be replaced by someone coming from the president.
The constitution must and should be followed. We do not want dictatorship in the country so that we can all enjoy suitable, free and fair elections in the country.
