The Senate on Thursday, confirmed new three ambassadorial nominees as requested by President Muhammadu Buhari in his communication to the lawmakers earlier in the year.
The lawmakers also approved the nomination of the Board of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) as requested by the President.
The ambassadorial nominees were confirmed following the presentation of their screening report to the Senate by Senator Monsurat Summoned (ADC-Oyo Central), who heads the Committee on Foreign Affairs.
The Ambassadorial nominees confirmed include Mr Christopher C. Chejina from Delta State, Mr Bukar Kolo, Yobe State and Mr M. A. Mabdul from Benue State.
While presenting the Committee’s report, Senator Sunmonu said that all the nominees met criteria to be representatives of the country abroad and therefore recommended their confirmation by the upper legislative chamber.

Also on Thursday. the Senate approved the nomination of Dr. Kabiru Nakaura from Katsina State representing North West as the chairman of National Bureau of Statistics and Mr. Akinola I. Bashir from Lagos representing South West, Prof. Moses I. Momoh from Edo for South South, Wallijoh Danladi Ahijoh from Niger for North Central, Adam Modu from Borno for North East and Nwafor Paul Chukwudi from Anambra representing South East as members, respectively.
Their confirmation was a sequel to the consideration of the report of the Committee on National Planning and Economic Affairs, chaired by Senator Musa Kwankwaso, PDP-Kano Central.
Senator Yele Omogunwa, who presented the report of the Committee said that all the nominees were qualified for appointment as recommended by President Buhari.
Senate President Bukola Saraki, who dropped the gavel on the nominees commended the two committees for doing a good job.
