In a groundbreaking initiative, the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) has successfully inspired a new generation of young leaders to champion the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Through its ‘Own-A-School’ project, the SDSN on Tuesday, May 14, empowered over 60 students at IMG Grammar School, Ibadan, to become advocates for a sustainable future.
The project, TRIBUNE ONLINE gathered, aimed to raise awareness and promote the SDGs among local communities, schools, and stakeholders.
By engaging young people in achieving the 17 SDGs by 2030, the project has sparked a sense of ownership and responsibility among students to drive positive change.
“The Own-a-School project has opened our eyes to the importance of working together to achieve a better future,” said one student advocate. “We are excited to continue promoting the SDGs and inspiring others to join us.”
The project’s impact extends beyond the school, fostering collaborations and networking among stakeholders and contributing to the global effort towards achieving the SDGs by 2030.
“This project demonstrates the power of grassroots engagement in driving sustainable development.
“We look forward to expanding the project’s reach and continuing to empower young minds to shape a better future for all.
“As the world continues to grapple with pressing global challenges, the Own-A-school project offers a beacon of hope, showcasing the potential for collective action to drive meaningful change.
“By investing in the next generation of leaders, Nigeria can create a more sustainable and equitable future for all,” said Arogbonlo Israel, the SDGs advocate who facilitated the project.
