The chairman, Nigeria Liquefied Petroleum Gas Association (NLPGA) Oyo State branch, Mr Israel Olaloye, has sought the support of the state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in removing unregistered retailers erecting structures within residential areas in the state from the system, as they do not belong to the association.
The chairman made the appeal on Wednesday during a courtesy visit to the NSCDC command headquarters at Agodi, Ibadan, according to a statement by the civil defence spokeswoman, Oyindamola Okuneye.
Olaloye also commended the NSCDC for the job being done to protect and support the activities of the body.
Applauding the Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear and Explosive unit (CBRNE) of the command for the excellent cooperation with the association so far, Mr Olaloye solicited for more cordial relationship between the association and NSCDC in the state.
Responding, the NSCDC Commandant, Dr Michael Adaralewa, assured that the command would work with the association to sanitise the state of unregistered members operating in residential areas to prevent unforeseen circumstances such as fire outbreaks, as the safety of the state residents is paramount.
Dr Adaralewa warned the association to desist from illegal activities, as the command would not hesitate in taking necessary measures against anyone found in the act.
He assured the association of the command’s readiness to give it necessary backup whenever the need arises.
