A cybersecurity expert, Mr Marcel Okoebor, has emphasised the need for technological innovation to effectively address growing security threats in Nigeria and across the world.
Speaking with newsmen, Okoebor, an entrepreneur driven by a passion for technology and problem-solving, said overcoming modern security challenges requires the development of advanced technological tools capable of detecting and neutralising cyber threats before they cause damage.
According to him, his focus has been on creating artificial intelligence (AI) systems designed to identify cyber risks proactively.
“I do not just discuss the need to respond to violations but to anticipate them and equip organisations with the resources to take decisive actions,” he said.
The expert explained that his journey into cybersecurity was inspired by his deep interest in technology and the belief that it can help resolve real-world problems.
“I realised that traditional cybersecurity measures are mostly reactive, leaving businesses vulnerable to attacks that could have been prevented. My research focuses on integrating artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data analytics into systems capable of predicting threats, assessing risks, and guiding organisations toward proactive defence,” he added.
Okoebor advised government authorities to ensure that technological solutions in cybersecurity remain open, responsible, and built on trust, so that organisations can protect their data without compromising integrity.
