The Osun State chapter of the Labour Party (LP) has strongly disowned a group of individuals who recently gathered to endorse the state governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, for a second term in office under the guise of the party’s leadership.
In a statement issued by the State Chairman, Hon. Mustapha Adebayo Muhydeen, the party described the gathering as an assembly of “political hangers-on and rent-a-crowd politicians,” categorically stating that the authentic Labour Party leadership had no involvement in the endorsement or the event.
Muhydeen clarified that the individual who paraded himself at the event as the leader of an LP faction was merely a candidate of the party during the 2023 general elections and has since ceased to participate in any of the party’s activities in the state.
He also expressed surprise at the involvement of one Prof. Tolulope Fakokunde, who reportedly led a faction to the endorsement ceremony.

“For the avoidance of doubt, we state categorically that the Labour Party, Osun State Chapter, does not endorse, support, or associate with that gathering in any form,” the chairman declared.
The state chairman further urged the general public, the media, and all political stakeholders to completely disregard the unauthorized group, warning that the Labour Party will not allow “political contractors” to hijack its name and structures for personal gain.
“We are putting this on the public record for the public to note and take cognizance of this dastardly act of impersonation and misrepresentation,” Muhydeen added, reaffirming that the party’s official structure remains entirely separate from the governor’s re-election campaign.
