The Nigerian Youth Parliament has felicitated with the immediate past Speaker of the House, Dr Azeezat Yishawu, on her recent appointment as the Senior Special Assistant on Policy Development and Analysis to the Minister for Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Chairman, House Committee on Media, Publicity, and Communications, Hon. Adekunle Akinrinade.
According to the statement, the speaker of the parliament, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Idris Zakari expressed at Yishawu’s appointment, stating that it is in recognition of her exceptional leadership and dedication to youth development.

The statement read, “The Speaker of the Nigerian Youth Parliament, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Idris Zakari, on behalf of the 6th Session, extends heartfelt congratulations to the immediate past Speaker, Rt. Hon. Dr. Azeezat Yishawu, on her recent appointment as the Senior Special Assistant on Policy Development and Analysis to the Minister for Youth Development, Comr. Ayodele Olawande.
“Dr. Yishawu, who led the 5th Session of the Nigerian Youth Parliament with distinction, has been recognized for her exceptional leadership and dedication to youth development.
“The Nigerian Youth Parliament celebrates and wishes her continued success as she takes on this position.”
A medical doctor, Azeezat Yishawu, emerged as the first female Speaker and also the speaker of the fifth Nigerian Youth Parliament.
She graduated from Lagos State University in 2019.
Yishawu was also the first female Speaker of the Lagos State University Medical Students Association. She led the senate arm of LASUMSA between October 2017 and October 2018.
Yishawu is a Medical Doctor and member of the Lagos State Youth Parliament with over four years of active experience in grassroots mobilisation, citizen engagement and stakeholder management. She has worked with NGOs like Involve Africa, Constitution Lab, to advance democracy and human rights.
