The Primate of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Most Reverend Henry Ndukuba has charged the government and the church to mobilise the youths in the country, in order to rise to their potential.
Primate Ndukuba said this in Abuja at the Joshua Generation International Youth Conference organised by the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion).
“It is clear that if the church will fulfil her mission and ministry, and if our nation will rise to her potential, the young people must be mobilised unto mission and nation-building.
“The leadership of the church and nation are at their hands. Every young person is precious and has a great place in the Household of faith, the church and the Misson of God in this generation,” the Primate said.
He said the Conference is a youth mission aimed at empowering the youth through the faithful proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ, engendering pure faith, hope and love in Christ Jesus in every young person.
“This conference aims at engaging each one in an intentional discipleship and empowering every Christian youth to unleash their great potential and creativity, natural talents and spiritual gifts in order to impact their areas of influence and God’s call upon their lives, thereby impacting on this generation positively,” he said.
Furthermore, he said the theme of the conference ‘Manifestation of the Sons of God’ was taken from Romans 8:19-21. He added that Romans 8 is a chapter that deals with the life of the believer.
“The imperative of being a son in Christ is first to become the reflection of God in the person of Christ. You have been predestined to become the image of Christ.
“Therefore, the need to daily trust God and intentionally pursue growing in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is your momentous responsibility,” he added.
Also speaking at the Conference, the Secretary to the government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha called on the youth the ensure they participate in the upcoming elections.
He charged Christians not only to vote in elections but also to contest electable positions and participate fully in the country’s politics.
On his part, the former Primate of Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, Bishop Nicholas Okoh charged the youth to participate in the upcoming elections by voting and ensuring that their votes count.
“Whatever Nigeria becomes is in the hands of the youth, they should come out register, go to the polling booths and vote. They should not stay back at home and they should not allow their vote hijacked by thugs, but they should be courageous enough to defend their votes and stand for who they have voted for,” he added.
